Paddling trip with family in Panama
Karl Borski
Director of Operations
Karl has been in the guiding business for over 18 years. He has spent several years paddling in far away countries such as Chile, Panama, Guatemala, in Europe and even lived for several years running a raft company in Honduras.
Karl's expertise in guiding and running a rafting business overseas makes him a vital player in Lakota's day to day operations.
"My goal is to insure that every guests has the most exciting time and to enjoy what I have made a career of doing…..playing in the outdoors" says Karl. "Let us show you what makes Colorado the number one destination in the U.S."

Doug originally hails from Fort Collins Colorado but grew up in the Vail area. After graduating from Vail Mountain School, Doug attended Western State College where he ski raced at Div. 1 level in the NCAA. After college Doug returned to Vail working for Lakota in the summers and Ski Patrols at Beaver Creek in the Winters.

Currently Doug is on the Board of Directors for Vail Mountain Rescue and Head Boatman / Facilities Manager for Lakota.

After 19 years of river on water Mike Mather is one of the more experienced and entertaining rescue professionals in the industry. Having taught courses all over the U.S. and in Europe, Mike’s less than conventional approach to this topic is anything but dry and effectively drives swiftwater rescue concepts home. Mike excels at keeping topics clear, accessible and applicable for rescue professionals, experienced boaters and novices alike.

Sking Beaver Creek
Doug has long been a rafter starting at age 12. While in College in West Virginia he finally took on the profession. Doug has kayaked throughout the Rockies and up into Canada.

In the winter you can find Doug as a Ski Patroller at Beaver Creek Mountain and EMT for ECAD Ambulance Service. Doug is always looking to spend more time outside rather than inside.
